Pillars are parts of a vehicle's body framing the windows and forming a support for the roof. In a common sedan scheme, there are three of them per each side, namely A-pillars (front), B-pillars (middle), and C-pillars (rear). In modern automobiles employing the unibody architecture, pillars belong to load-bearing chassis components serving both the firmness of the structure and safety of people sitting inside. In older designs, including all of the B-Body Chevy Impalas, the pillars only support the roof, as main load is carried by the frame beneath the body.

However, even though the pillars don’t belong to the principal components of the body-on-frame construction, they are still in charge of roll-over safety and look of the car. That’s why if the pillars of your Chevy Impala are rusty (which happens, given that the corrosion protection of some old cars is not brilliant), you have a couple of good reasons to get the problem solved without hesitating. Depending on rust severity, the issue can be addressed by cosmetic body works, or you may need to go all the way replacing the impaired parts. In this case, our Chevy Impala pillars inventory will be very useful.
