The choice of Porsche purists is a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-6, which produces 394 horsepower in the GTS 4.0 and 414 horsepower in the 718 Spyder, all while creating a goosebump-inducing sound. The most extreme model, the Spyder RS, also gets the horizontally-opposed six but it is tuned to develop 493 hp. It is the only Boxster to come standard with a seven-speed PDK automatic gearbox – the rest feature a precise-shifting 6-speed manual, with the PDK offered as an option.
